Bruno Fernandes scored twice as Manchester United kicked off their tour of the United States with a 2-1 win over West Ham in the Premier League Summer Series tournament in New Jersey.

Bruno Fernandes scored twice as Manchester United opened their U.S. tour with a 2-1 win over West Ham in the Premier League Summer Series on Saturday in New Jersey. Fernandes capitalized on two errors from West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, scoring a penalty in the 5th minute and a second in the 52nd after a poor clearance.
Jarrod Bowen pulled one back for West Ham in the 63rd minute and forced a late save, but United held firm.
“It’s good to win, even in a friendly. It helps us prepare for the season,” Fernandes said post-match.
United’s $87 million signing Bryan Mbeumo traveled but didn’t feature. He may debut against Bournemouth in their next game.
Earlier, Bournemouth beat Everton 3-0 with second-half goals from Philip Billing, Dango Outtara, and Daniel Adu-Adjei, taking advantage of Everton’s defensive mistakes.
